The Gulf-State Six Securing Their Rear Against Iran

After 8.5 years, John Karls is taking a sabbatical through year end from serving as the facilitator for our group, as described in greater detail in the fourth and fifth sections below.

In the meantime, we are having occasional discussions of political topics without elaborate preparations and following ad hoc arrangements.

The Gulf-State Six Securing Their Rear Against Iran

Post by johnkarls »

.
As we have studied many times in the past, Turkey, Egypt and the Gulf State Six (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman) have each announced repeatedly that each will go nuclear as soon as Iran does.

Indeed, our most recent study was for our 11/13/2013 meeting in which we focused on whether MAD (the Cold War policy of Mutual Assured Destruction) would have any hope of working with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei who might, like Adolf Hitler or Fidel Castro, be willing to sacrifice his people on the altar of some lofty idea or principle. Especially since he is fond of proclaiming that he wants to rule the Middle East and, for good measure, that Israel should be destroyed and Israel is only "a one bomb country" leading one to assume that he will start a nuclear holocaust in no time flat.

The reason for our 11/13/2013 focus was that 50% of the world's oil supplies come from the Persian Gulf OR DOWNWIND from the Persian Gulf which means that if Iran starts a nuclear war, the lives of 3.5 billion of the earth's 7 billion human population would immediately no longer be sustainable (NB: virtually all of the world's fertilizers are made from petrochemicals).

Relevance to Al Qaeda in Iraq aka ISIS aka ISIL aka The Islamic State

As we have also studied many times in the past, in facing off against Persian Iran, The Gulf State Arab Six are well aware of Military Theory 101 which dictates securing one’s rear before facing an adversary.

And they are well aware that Syria’s Bashar al-Assad (as well as Hamas and Hezbollah) are pawns of Iran.

So why are we surprised that The Gulf State Six would try to depose Assad???

And why are we surprised that The Gulf State Six would try to oppose the Bagdad government that is also a pawn of Iran???

And why are we surprised that Al Qaeda in Iraq aka ISIS aka ISIL aka The Islamic State is the instrument by which this is accomplished???

Digressing for a moment, Sir Winston Churchill was fond of saying that IDEAS create organizations and IDEAS blow them away!!!

So why are we surprised that the effectiveness of AQI/ISIS/ISIL/TIS depended upon the ability to attract fanatics. And that a deep-seated hatred for Western culture that stems from the 1,000 years when The Arab Empire was the center of learning and culture while Europe was a real backwater, is part of the DNA of Arab culture and that means that many of the fanatics who will be attracted to such a movement are Western haters???

This is not the only way to view the situation, but viewing it this way provokes a lot of obvious questions =

(1) Are we really going to defeat AQI/ISIS/ISIL/TIS which means, in other words, defeating The Gulf State Six in their struggle with Iran to achieve a nuclear Mutual Assured Destruction stand-off which, due to Iranian romanticism with lofty Gőtterdämmerung (twilight of the gods) type of principles, may be unrealistic???

(2) Can we defeat, in Winston Churchill terms, the IDEA that Western nations are the enemy of the Arab nations???

(3) And if we are trying to convince Arab nations that Western nations are not their enemy, then why are we contemplating becoming the Air Force of Iran’s Bagdad pawn???

(4) And doesn’t becoming the Air Force of Iran’s Bagdad pawn guarantee that the IDEA (in Churchhillian terms) that Western countries are the enemy of the Arab nations will become an even more obvious “fact” at least to them??? And serve only to radicalize a much greater number of anti-Western Arabs???

Disclaimer

As already mentioned, this is not the only way to view the situation.

And perhaps it is necessary to ignore Arab sensitivities and “bite the bullet” of recognizing an existential threat and acting in our own self interest.

However, a reason for raising these questions is whether we have analyzed accurately what is in our own self interest.
