Suggested Answers to the Short Quiz

Question 1

How many states did President Trump “flip” in the 2016 election?

Answer 1

Six.

Question 2

Of the 6 states President Trump “flipped,” were all of them except Florida in the “Rust Belt” of the Midwest?

Answer 2

Yes.

Question 3

Did our authors travel 27,000 miles to interview 300 Trump voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa -- the 5 “flip” states of the Midwest “Rust Belt”?

Answer 3

Yes.

Question 4

Had our authors already obtained detailed survey responses from 2,000 Trump voters, 400 of which came from each of the 5 “flip” states of the Midwest “Rust Belt”?

Answer 4

Yes.

Question 5

Do 2,000 voters in the 5 “flip” states and 400 voters in each of the 5 “flip” states greatly exceed the number of voters surveyed in the “microscope” of most national/state voter polls per the National Council on Public Polls (www.ncpp.org)?

Answer 5

Yes.

According to the National Council on Public Polls (www.ncpp.org/?q-node/6) the average sample size for polls of national or state voters is only 1 out of 200,000 voters.

So, for example, Pennsylvania’s population of 12.7 million which is the largest of the “rust belt” states that President Trump “flipped” and which, per www.ncpp.org, implies there are 8.2 million Pennsylvania voters, would involve an average sample size of only 41 people to represent ALL (not just Trump) voters in Pennsylvania!!!

Question 6

From the 300 personal interviews, did our authors discover that virtually all of the interviewees fit into one of 7 categories --

• Red-blooded and Blue-Collared
• Perot-istas
• Rough Rebounders
• Girl Gun Power
• Rotary Reliables
• King Cyrus Christians
• Silent Suburban Moms

Answer 6

Yes.

Question 7

Was there anything about each (or any) of these 7 categories that seemed surprising?

Answer 7

What do you think??? Let’s discuss!!!

[BTW, Yours Truly did not find any of the authors’ comments surprising because he already knew from his extensive contacts in the Midwest from attending family and high school reunions that a fair cross-section of Midwest society supported Trump, not necessarily because of their own personal situations, but because of their horror over how “free trade” agreements over the last 25 years had destroyed the economy of the Rust Belt.]

Question 8

Did our authors detect a virtually-universal culture craving respect?

Answer 8

Yes.

Question 9

Even more importantly, did our authors detect a nearly-universal attitude of pragmatism before ideology?

Answer 9

Yes.

Question 10

And perhaps most importantly, did our authors detect a nearly-universal attitude of localism rather than globalism? In other words, “America First”?

Answer 10

Yes.

Question 11

Is it surprising that opposition to “globalism” (which could also be described as “pragmatism” or as “a culture craving respect”) is the result of, as we have studied on numerous occasions, American jobs having been exported for 25 years pursuant to so-called “free trade” agreements?

Answer 11

What do you think??? Let’s discuss!!!

Question 12

Does classic economic theory proclaim that “free trade” is good for everyone involved?

Answer 12

Yes.

Question 14

For example on an individual level, that you are far better off by hiring plumbers, electricians, doctors, dentists, etc., etc., and concentrating on what you do best? Rather than taking the time, for example, to Google how to solve a plumbing problem and then taking even more time to tackle the problem, probably without success?

Answer 14

Yes and Yes.

Question 15

Whether on the personal or international level, does the “win win” proclamation assume that you (or your nation) is actually concentrating on something you do (or your country does) best?

Yes.

On the personal level, does the specialization theory work for you if you just sit back and do nothing?

Answer 16

What do you think??? Let’s discuss!!!

So why would anyone think for a moment that on the international level, exporting American jobs would be good for the country if we are simply putting people out of work???

Answer 17

What do you think??? Let’s discuss!!!

Question 18

Have the “globalists” traditionally made the argument that America’s “free trade” agreements are merely exporting low-level jobs and America will benefit as its workers transition into higher-level jobs?

Answer 18

Yes.

Question 19

Have “globalists” ever addressed the question of how American workers whose jobs have been exported, obtain the RE-TRAINING necessary to transition into higher-level jobs???

Answer 19

Not really!!!

Question 20

EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, have the “globalists” ever addressed the question of how TOMORROW’S American workers transition into higher-level jobs in light of the fact that the performance of America’s education system ranks DEAD LAST among the 35 countries that are members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)???

Answer 20

What do you think??? Let’s discuss!!!
