First Short Quiz – The Iran Nuclear Deal (aka JCPOA)

.
TWO MAJOR PUBLIC-POLICY ISSUES

As can be seen from the book description posted in the preceding “Original Proposal” section, “Bibi” is an autobiography (which BTW Netanyahu wrote “long hand”) covering his entire life as well as many public-policy issues.

For our 17 years of existence, we have always prided ourselves in being a NON-PARTISAN PUBLIC-POLICY STUDY/ACTION GROUP that does NOT waste time supporting particular candidates – but instead, GOES WITH THE WINNERS AND TELLS THEM WHAT TO DO.

In “Bibi” and in his many media interviews, Bibi Netanyahu posits that the TWO MAJOR PUBLIC-POLICY ISSUES motivating him to become Prime Minister for a third time are –

(1) Opposing the Iran Nuclear Deal (aka JCPOA) and taking whatever action is necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons; and

(2) Expanding the number of “Abraham Accords” with Arab countries from those achieved in 2020 during his most recent term as Prime Minister – United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. [BTW, Benjamin Netanyahu claims that even those countries would NOT have normalized relations without the tacit approval of Saudi Arabia over which Israel has commercial over-flight privileges to reach the UAE and Bahrain.]

ADDITIONAL VOLUMINOUS INFORMATION CAN BE ACCESSED BY ENTERING IN THE PRIMITIVE SEARCH BOX IN THE UPPER-RIGHT-HAND CORNER OF EVERY FRAME OF THIS BULLETIN BOARD – “JCPOA” w/o the quotation marks – and 28 items are listed for ready access.

Indeed, our most-recent advice to a decision maker on this topic is our 1/20/2021 letter on Inauguration Day to President Biden entitled “Reforming the Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) To Prevent A Nuclear Holocaust in the Middle East.”

[For a copy of our letter to President Biden, please see viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2021&sid=36f723dc9 ... 20360acf22 including the three so-called “replies” which, at the time of this writing, have received 2,658 views.]

********************
PART A – QUICK OVERVIEW

1. Did the Obama Administration negotiate the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal (aka JCPOA)?

2. Did the Iran Nuclear Deal fail to provide for “anytime anywhere” inspections?

3. Did it fail to impede at all Iran’s development of nuclear-capable short-range and inter-continental ballistic missiles (which are typically launched with such slogans painted on their sides as “Death to Israel” and “Death to the Big Satan” aka the United States)?

4. Did it guarantee Iran nuclear weapons by 2030?

5. Did President Obama refuse to honor the U.S. Constitution by submitting the Iran Nuclear Deal for ratification by a 2/3 vote of the U.S. Senate?

6. Did President Obama refuse to do so because he knew ratification did not stand a chance?

7. Did President Trump pull the U.S. out of the Iran Nuclear Deal on 5/8/2018?

8. Unlike the Law of Contracts, under International Law is a party to any treaty free to renounce it at any time?

9. Did President Biden campaign on re-entering the Iran Nuclear Deal?

10. Did our 1/20/2021 letter to President Biden on Inauguration Day oppose re-entering the Iran Nuclear Deal unless its three failures (please see Questions 2-4) were corrected?

11. Did President Biden, unbelievable as it may seem, appoint Russia’s President Vladimir Putin as the U.S. negotiator with Iran to re-enter the Iran Nuclear Agreement?

12. Have the negotiations foundered, DESPITE PRESIDENT BIDEN’S REFUSAL FROM THE OUTSET TO ASK FOR ANY OF THE THREE CORRECTIONS (please see Questions 2-4) because Iran has insisted, as a new condition, that the U.S. remove Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (aka IRGC) from our “terrorist blacklist”?

13. Is the U.S. Secretary of State required to list each year “State Sponsors of Terrorism” by Sec. 6(j) of the Export Administration Act, Sec. 40 of the Arms Export Control Act, and Sec. 620A of the Foreign Assistance Act?

14. Has Iran been designated the “No. 1 State Sponsor of Terrorism” since 1984?

15. Does it appear that Iran has asked for something that it knows President Biden doesn’t dare do?

16. Does this imply Iran doesn’t want to be bothered with explaining ex post facto how it acquired nuclear weapons notwithstanding the Iran Nuclear Deal?

********************
PART B – ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS (from our 1/20/2021 letter to Pres. Biden)

1. Will a nuclear Iran immediately cause the so-called “Gulf State Six” (aka The Gulf State Cooperation Council – Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates) to go nuclear?

2. After all, why should the Gulf State Six have any more faith in the so-called American “nuclear umbrella” than President Charles de Gaulle who pulled France out of NATO in 1966 in order to develop French nuclear weapons which the U.S. then derisively called the “Force de Frappe”?

3. Could the “Gulf State Six” immediately buy nuclear weapons from, say, Pakistan or North Korea, if not on the “black market” from a variety of sources?

4. Might a nuclear war between Iran and the “Gulf State Six” constitute “Valhalla - The Twilight of The Humans” and would such a nuclear war, at the very least, mean that –

• With the world’s prevailing winds flowing from west to east, half of the world’s population could be wiped out by nuclear radiation?

• With half of the world’s oil supply coming from the Persian Gulf or downwind from the Persian Gulf and becoming radioactive, the world could become impoverished overnight?

5. Have apologists for the Iran Nuclear Deal argued that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was born in 1939, is likely to have departed the scene by 2030?

6. However isn’t Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei just as rabid as his predecessor, Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who ruled Iran from 1979 when The Shah was deposed until 1989?

7. Doesn’t Ayatollah Khamenei often refer to Israel as a “one-bomb state”?

8. And doesn’t he love to lead crowds in chants of “Death to America”?

9. So why should anyone think that Iran’s theocratic dictatorship -- only approved candidates are permitted to run for INFERIOR offices NOT INCLUDING “Supreme Leader” -- would produce a successor for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who is any different from him or from his predecessor?

10. After all, since 1984 hasn’t Iran headed the list of the world’s “State Sponsors of Terrorism” (a list that the U.S. State Department is required to maintain under Sec. 6(j) of the Arms Export Control Act and under Sec. 620A of the Foreign Assistance Act and a list it took Iran only 5 years after the Shah was deposed to head continuously for the last 40 years)?

11. And worst of all, hasn’t Iran’s behavior grown continually worse (rather than better) in the wake of the Iran Nuclear Deal?

********************
TEASER QUESTIONS FOR THE SECOND SHORT-QUIZ (on the Abraham Accords)

1. Is it any wonder that the “Gulf State Six” (aka “Gulf Cooperation Council” -- Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates) should turn for a protective “nuclear umbrella” to Israel which shares the same existential threat from Iran?

2. Has Israel been a nuclear power since before the 1973 Arab-Israeli War?

Hint re Q-2 –

ENTER IN THE PRIMITIVE SEARCH BOX IN THE UPPER-RIGHT-HAND CORNER OF EVERY FRAME OF THIS BULLETIN BOARD – “Samson” w/o the quotation marks – and 24 items dating back to 4/27/2008 are listed for ready access.

*****
THE FOLLOWING IS QUOTED FROM THE LAST ITEM DATED 4/27/2008 -

Pulitzer-Prize winner Seymour Hersh's “The Samson Option: Israel’s Nuclear Option and American Foreign Policy” (Random House 10/27/1991) described

(a) Israel’s nuclear-weapons program,

(b) how prior to the 1973 attack by Egypt, Israel had a policy that if it ever had fewer than 24 hours to go until annihilation it would fire its nuclear missiles which incidentally were AIMED AT RUSSIAN CITIES RATHER THAN ARAB CAPITALS,

(c) how the Israeli cabinet believed they were within 24 hours of annihilation by Syria during the 1973 war because Israel had been rationing its ammunition vis-à-vis which Henry Kissinger had been refusing to re-supply Israel for 12 months, and

(d) how the Israeli cabinet decided to fire their nuclear missiles AFTER firing a telex to Kissinger giving him a “heads up” on what would be “going down” within a matter of minutes.

Kissinger, according to Seymour Hersh, responded immediately that the Israelis should begin firing their conventional ammunition “as if there were no tomorrow” and that American re-supply planes would take off at dawn. The Israelis did, the Syrian lines stabilized, and Israel did not become the answer to a trivia question (What WAS Israel???).

So if Israel followed the philosophy of General/President Charles de Gaulle when he withdrew France from NATO and developed his own nuclear weapons that America’s nuclear umbrella is NOT credible and only French nuclear weapons would stop Russian tanks from rolling to the Atlantic, what makes Hillary*** think that the “Gulf State Six” will be more gullible than the French and the Israelis???

**********End of 4/27/2008 Quotation**********

[*** During Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign, she had advocated placing Israel and the Gulf State Six under America’s “Nuclear Umbrella.”]
