Dear John,

If memory serves, you never proposed “Half American” in our website’s Sec. 3 (Possible Topics for Future Meetings).

Why not?

Your friend,

Dear Solutions,

Thank you very much for your e-mail.

The short answer is that Prof. Matthew Delmont is such a good academic historian!!!

The long answer???

Over our organization’s 19 years of existence, we have often focused on racial discrimination.

And on many of those occasions, we have taken action by bombarding decision makers with pleas and recommendations.

For example, Sections 4 and 5 of our website are entitled “Inner-City Holocaust and America's Apartheid "Justice" System (In Honor of Jonathan Kozol and In Memory of John Howard Griffin).”

They contain dozens of legal documents and pleas to decision makers regarding my lawsuits against the world’s 15 largest financial institutions for the $84 billion that they owed me and that had long-since been pledged in legally-binding fashion to benefit the education of 10 million American inner-city children.

(1) There were THREE (yes, count them THREE) sets of pleas to President Obama and 20 other US & California governmental officials (INCLUDING MY OWN AT-THAT-TIME CONGRESS-PERSON, NANCY PELOSI) imploring them to cause Amicus Curiae briefs to be filed on behalf of the 10 million inner-city children and thereby REPRESENT THEIR OWN CONSTITUENTS (filing Amicus briefs was routine for most of them).

(2) There were THREE (yes, count them THREE) sets of pleas to Gwen Ifill and 42 other news-media superstars imploring them to provide the same kind of spotlight on the lawsuits involving the 10 million inner-city children that they routinely provide for other worthy lawsuits.

EVEN THOUGH PRES. OBAMA ET AL. KNEW THAT A SINGLE AMICUS BRIEF COULD WELL HAVE MEANT VICTORY, THEY SHUNNED THEIR OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP THE 10 MILLION INNER-CITY CHILDREN.

AND EVEN THOUGH THE 43 MEDIA SUPERSTARS (INCLUDING ALL OF THE OP-ED COLUMNISTS AT THE NEW YORK TIMES) KNEW THAT PUBLISHING A SINGLE ITEM MIGHT HAVE MEANT VICTORY, THEY SHUNNED THEIR OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP THE 10 MILLION INNER-CITY CHILDREN.

Our final appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court stated that the “Question Presented For Review” was --

“Can state court judges order their decisions which they know are diametrically-opposed to well-settled law, not to be published or cited (a strategy labeled ‘the segregated toilet’ in correspondence with 51 inner-city clergy who represent the 10 million inner-city children who have been disclosed from the outset as the ‘real parties at interest’ in this law suit) in order to flush away the rights of the 10 million inner-city children without disturbing the rights of first-class American citizens -- without violating the ‘Equal Protection of the Law’ requirement of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution?”

The saddest day of my life was October 5, 2011, when I sent the final report to each of the 51 inner-city clergy who had been supporting the cause to (A) inform them that the US Supreme Court on 10/4/2011 refused to hear our appeal, (B) thank them for their efforts with the solace that each of us would be able to say at The Pearly Gates with St. Paul (II Timothy 4:7): “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” and (C) request them and their congregants to pray for the 43 news-media superstars, the 21 governmental officials, the California judges and the U.S. Supreme Court Justices, that MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THEIR SOULS!!!

I hope God will not hold against me the fact that in several places on our website, I have suggested that, though long may Barack Obama live, his epitaph should read --

Barack Hussein Obama
America’s First “Token” Black President
He “Knew His Place” on The Establishment’s “Plantation”
He Condemned 10 Million Inner-City Children to “A Fate Worse Than Death”

If you are still reading this, I thank you for indulging an old civil-rights warrior who first joined the battle during the summer of 1966 which was ONLY 2 years AFTER the assassinations in Mississippi of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner who had been working on the “Freedom Summer” campaign of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) to register African-Americans to vote.

And 1966 was 3 years BEFORE the assassinations of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy.

That summer, before my last year of law school, was spent on the U.S. Government’s FIRST task force to enforce the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision by eliminating the “de jure” dual school systems of the 17 slave states (including 6 that had NOT joined the Confederacy) that had effectively survived under a “freedom of choice” system.

Because yes, African-Americans knew that “freely choosing” the white school would be signing their own death warrants!!!

AND YES, YOU CAN INPUT “TASTEE FREEZ” IN THE PRIMITIVE SEARCH BOX IN THE UPPER RIGH-HAND CORNER OF EVERY FRAME OF OUR WEBSITE AND YOU WILL NOW GET 11 HITS (THIS BEING THE 11TH IF, AS IS YOUR HABIT, YOU POST THIS).

What do the first 10 hits describe???

How my African-American partner and I that summer were within 60 seconds of being assassinated per the North Carolina State Police who had been summoned by a Tastee Freez manager to protect his property AND WERE OBVIOUSLY DISGUSTED TO DISCOVER THEY HAD SAVED OUR LIVES AS A BY-PRODUCT.

So yes, in the 1970’s I was the co-founder of Fairfield County CT’s first homeless shelter.

And beginning in the 1980’s, I was the founder and sponsor of the “I Have A Dream”® Foundation of Stamford CT which provided tutors and mentors from third grade through high school graduation with a guarantee of college tuition – for 200 public-housing-project children.

And in the 1990’s, I also served as the volunteer national treasurer of the national “I Have A Dream”® Foundation which oversaw 178 similar programs in 51 American cities.

NB: These IHAD programs typically transformed SINGLE-DIGIT high school graduation rates for the classes just before and after the “Dreamer Class” – to more than 90%!!!

So why all this information that, unfortunately, sounds like bragging???

Prof. Matthew Delmont is such a good academic historian that he “laser focuses” solely on American racial discrimination during World War II.”

Without even mentioning how the U.S. armed forces came to be segregated (the index for “Half American” contains only one entry for Pres. Woodrow Wilson and that reference has nothing to do with his segregating the U.S. armed forces which theretofore had been integrated!!! Much less Woodrow Wilson's firing all of the many African-Americans who had been hired by the Federal Government following the Civil War -- which BTW is why we have long-since had Civil Service Rules that make it virtually impossible to fire a federal worker.).

And without even mentioning what a travesty, as we have often opined, resulted from the integration of the U.S. armed forces!!!

In other words, Prof. Delmont also has the academic discipline to refrain from following this issue after World War II.

Whereas, we have often studied how --

(1) The Vietnam War was extremely unpopular, forcing the decision by Pres. Lyndon Johnson NOT to run for re-election because America had a military draft and children of affluent parents were being killed;

(2) This quickly resulted in an “all volunteer” military; and

(3) The practical result of the “all volunteer” miliary, as we have often concluded, was –

• Whereas the only practical career objectives of an American inner-city child had been pusher or pimp, or girl friend of a pusher or pimp, graduating to whore!!!

• That beginning 5 decades ago, an inner-city child could instead volunteer to fight wars that the nation’s elite decided to fight with America’s most-economically-disadvantaged children!!!

So yes, you are correct that I didn’t think the “laser focus” of “Half American” on armed-forces segregation during World War II would provide much information for America’s current racial problems.

But when a dozen or so of our 232 e-mail recipients inquired about what I was reading currently, I “came clean” and even offered to provide the traditional quizzes and suggested discussion outline to support focusing on “Half American.”

After all, you know that after reading more than 1,500 thick historical tomes and biographies, I like to think I know a fair amount about history, both world and American.

And although I knew a fair amount about armed-forces segregation from Woodrow Wilson to Franklin Roosevelt, with respect to the World War II segment of it I “didn’t know the half of it” to quote an old idiom. Which psychologists will quickly realize I used rather than admit that “half” is a gross exaggeration.

I hope you will read “Half American” and participate in our Zoom discussion on Wed evening Jan 22.

And thank you again for your e-mail.

Your friend,

John K.
