Dear Friends,

As you may recall, Sec. 8 of www.ReadingLiberally-SaltLake.com states, we form Working Groups “whenever a particular policy issue (1) may require immediate action on the spur of the moment (rendering addressing it at the next regular monthly meeting impractical), and/or (2) may require long-term attention.”

Each is established with an e-mail to all of our now-232 members describing the need and inviting everyone to join the Working Group described.

This week between focus books for monthly meetings seemed a good occasion to report on what they have been doing.

We have had dozens of Working Groups during our 19 years of existence.

Sections 8 and 8(A) through 8(E) of www.ReadingLiberally-SaltLake.com describe our 8 most-recent Working Groups, 7 of which are still active and one of which recently fulfilled its mission and went out of existence.

Ukraine’s 12/5/1994 Guaranty From America Of Its Independence AND Territorial Integrity If It Gave Up Its 1,900 Multiple-Warhead Nuclear Missiles


The first and second attachments to this e-mail were sent by our Working Group re Ukraine’s 12/5/1994 Guaranty From America Of Its Independence AND Territorial Integrity If It Gave Up Its 1,900 Multiple-Warhead Nuclear Missiles.

The attachments should be self-explanatory except – both include flattery which, though not necessarily true, the Ukraine Working Group thought necessary for success.

The Hannity@Fox.news e-mail can be considered a success because the second part of the interview of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy which Hannity announced last Tuesday (Jan 28) would air last evening (Thursday Jan 30) did not air either Thursday Jan 30 or Friday Jan 31 (though his Fri Jan 31 show was devoted commercial-free to an airplane crash in Philadelphia).

In that second part, Hannity had announced that he would ask President Zelenskyy whether and how Ukraine will repay America $200 billion for the weapons we have provided them as if the American guarantee (which to date has not involved any American military personnel) were merely an assurance that we would sell SOME arms to Ukraine so that they MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT be able to defend themselves.

Thorium Fission, Global Warming and Crossing Swords Once More With Bill Gates on Thorium Fission vs. Uranium Fission


The third attachment to this e-mail was sent by our Working Group re Thorium Fission.

It should be self-explanatory except that some of you may not be familiar with the facts that –

{1) Both the Paris Climate Accord of 2016 and its predecessor, the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, obligate the U.S. to adopt wind and solar which are much more expensive than the benchmark of oil & gas WHILE CHINA AND INDIA (THE BY-FAR GREATEST CARBON POLLUTERS) ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE FAR-DISTANT FUTURE (IF THEN).

(2) Indeed, in negotiating the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, U.S. Vice President Al Gore defied a 95-0 vote of the U.S. Senate instructing him not to agree to anything (1) that exempted China or India, or (2) that impacted adversely the U.S. standard of living – both of which he promptly did and which defiance is probably why President Clinton never submitted the Kyoto Protocol to the U.S. Senate for the 2/3-vote ratification required for treaties.

(3) The only carbon-free energy-source which is abundant, completely-safe and far cheaper than oil & gas is thorium fission – indeed, the earth itself is the world’s largest thorium-fission reactor which is why any rupture in the earth’s thin skin produces volcanos spewing molten lava and why the earth’s core is 7,000 degrees Fahrenheit which is hotter than the surface of the sun!!! And, for example, virtually all of India’s “sand” beaches comprise thorium so that a child’s pail of sand contains enough energy for that child’s entire life!!!

(4) Bill Gates is an active force in solving global warning with nuclear energy but, for the last decade, has inexplicably been championing uranium-fission rather than thorium-fission.
