First Short Quiz – Questions Before Opening “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook”

Post by johnkarls »

.

A worthwhile exercise before opening a book is to ask yourself what you expect it to address so that you think reading it is worthwhile. For example --

***************

1. If, per the Original Proposal at viewtopic.php?f=884&t=2736&sid=8de930e0 ... 2d95c84209, we will judge between Dartmouth and Rutgers whether the Anti-Fascist Handbook describes Antifa as a “Domestic Terrorist Organization” As Defined In 18 U.S. Code Sec. 2331(5) -- shouldn’t we also be interested in the propriety of the 18 U.S. Code Sec. 2331(5) definition???

2. After all, isn’t there a famous oft-quoted assertion – “one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter"???

3. Does 18 U.S. Code Sec. 2331(5) define “domestic terrorism” as “activities that --

(A) involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State;
(B) appear to be intended—
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and
(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.”

4. During the American Revolutionary War, would the Americans have viewed the British as “domestic (per US laws) terrorists”??? And would the Brits have viewed the Americans as “domestic terrorists”???

5. During the American Civil War, would Unionists have viewed Confederates as “domestic terrorists”??? Would Confederates have viewed Unionists as “domestic terrorists”???

6. Was the famous “Underground Railroad” a maze of “safe houses” where runaway slaves 1833-1860’s could find shelter on their way to Canada??? Was Canada their goal because the British Empire had abolished slavery in 1833???

7. Were “Bounty Hunters” the professional hunters of slaves who earned their livings by capturing runaway slaves and returning them to their owners for a “bounty”???

8. Before the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles 2/7/1958, had they been the Brooklyn Dodgers since 1883???

9. Until 1898 when Brooklyn merged into NYC following the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge 5/24/1883, was independent Brooklyn THE THIRD-LARGEST CITY IN AMERICA???

10. But more importantly IMHO, was Brooklyn the “consolation prize” for runaway slaves 1833-1860’s???

11. Was this because the life expectancy of Bounty Hunters in Brooklyn after dark was measured in minutes, if not seconds???

12. Would the Bounty Hunters have viewed Brooklynites as “domestic terrorists”??? And vice versa???

13. Does the Roman Catholic Church subscribe to the ancient “Just War Doctrine” which is defined in Paragraph 2309 of Catechism of the Catholic Church as satisfying --

• The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave and certain.
• All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective.
• There must be serious prospects of success.
• The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.

14. Would you be surprised to learn that the RCC has regularly proclaimed whether American wars are “just” or not???

15. Would your views of, for example, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, etc., be influenced by the RCC’s application of the “Just War Doctrine” so that you think you know who the “terrorists” are and who the “good guys” are???

16. What bearing should the existence or absence of democracy have???

17. But doesn’t democracy depend not only on “freedom of speech” and “freedom of the press” but an HONEST press that publishes FACTS rather than OPINIONS and does NOT highly edit its so-called “facts”???

18. Are any Americans justified in “taking the law into their own hands” because they disagree with another American’s political views no matter how “wrong” they consider them to be???

19. In the wake of Antifa Handbook author Mark Bray abandoning Rutgers 10/9/2025 when he fled to Spain, was one of the “talking points” of his defenders that Antifa can NOT be a “Terrorist Organization” because it is not an “Organization”???

20. Is this laughable because every Terrorist Organization throughout history has always comprised “cells” whose members are protected by limiting knowledge about other “cells” and their members???

21. Is another “talking point” of Mark Bray defenders that the Antifa Handbook and his Rutgers lectures comprise solely Socratic-method questions??? If true, do you think Mark Bray fancies himself a law professor since law schools traditionally have employed the Socratic Method???

22. Should the Socratic Method of asking questions rather than making statements be a defense if it is clear from the way Mark Bray graded papers and examinations what the “correct” answers were???

23. Aren’t both “talking points” (no organization and only Socratic questions) belied by the fact that Mark Bray pledged when the Antifa Handbook was published that he would devote half of his profits to funding Antifa members and Antifa causes???

24. Is it really acceptable in American society for politicians to call other politicians a “Fascist” or “Hitler” without affording the victims a fair trial before they are assassinated by the followers of the name-calling politicians???!!!
